Established on July 18, 1946, Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, formerly known as the University of Saugor, is the 18th University of India and the oldest in Madhya Pradesh. It was founded by Dr. Sir Hari Singh Gour with his personal savings, making it a testament to his dedication to education and social reform. The university spans a picturesque campus in Sagar, surrounded by lush green forests.
Today, the university offers diverse academic and extracurricular opportunities across 36 teaching departments and 11 schools and is equipped with various facilities including libraries, hostels, and canteens, creating a vibrant campus life for students.
The "Gour Gourav Utsav 2024" is set to take place from November 26 - 30, 2024, and will bring together youth from across the Central Zone to celebrate and showcase talent in categories like Music, Dance, Theatre, Literary, and Fine Arts. This festival aims to foster cultural exchange, unity, and the spirit of national integration, making it a significant event for youth leadership and cultural expression.
Hosted by Doctor Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya in association with the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), this event will also mark the university’s commitment to cultural diversity and youth empowerment.
